In a world where advancement in women’s education and employment is becoming more valuable, it is still important to ensure these opportunities and pathways remain accessible for all women and girls, regardless of economic background, race, or religion. Therefore, Khan Foundation NYC has sought to create a program to increase access, opportunity and visibility of young women of diverse backgrounds to enter and succeed in both educational and professional fields.

The Young Women’s Leadership, Education and Internship Program (LEIP) is a 6-week summer program that aims to empower young women through courses in leadership training, college preparation, and professional development, as well as financial literacy, entrepreneurship and creative expression. The program will combine thematic workshop-style classes with a summer internship placement of each fellow’s choosing at one of the program’s internship partner organizations.

Designed for high school rising 10th through rising 12th grade young women in the NYC Metro Area, our goal is to help young women to learn the significance of their individual contributions, realize the power of sharing and learning from their collective experiences, and assist them achieving higher education and career opportunities.
