Social Media and Marketing Coordinator

Position Description

The Social Media and Marketing Coordinator will utilize our social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc) to engage with and expand our online community. The Social Media and Marketing Coordinator will also work with the Khan Foundation staff to plan and execute innovative social media marketing strategies to bolster our brand presence and increase local and national awareness through articles, promotional campaigns and networking. We are interested in creating student campaigns via instagram, online partnerships with changemakers and deepening the level of engagement with multigenerational communities with our programming and student base. We anticipate that the position will require 8-10hrs per week. Additional time is optional but encouraged!

Although this is an unpaid internship Khan Foundation will support students seeking college credit with the approval of their college and/or internship credit program. Additionally, for candidates willing to work through a 4 month working period, a stipend will be available. Stipend details will be discussed during candidate interview. Furthermore, based on job performance during the 4 month period, the selected candidate may be eligible for permanent job placement with an hourly salary.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum 2 year College Experience; Graduate Students Encouraged
  • ackground in Social Media, Integrated Marketing, Communications, Non-profit Development or other related discipline
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational, administrative and computer skills
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of low-income youth and families
  • Demonstrated record of positively influencing youth
  • Interested in nonprofit management and community development
  • Proficient in Photoshop, Microsoft Publisher or Illustrator
  • Familiarity with Squarespace is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Able to work 8-10hrs per week at KF in Jamaica, Queens
  • Create and upload content via social media and web-based platforms
  • Create online partnerships with local and national leaders and organizations with similar goals
  • Coordinates integrated online marketing and advertising campaigns
  • Monitors online activity of model organizations, researches and implements the best social media practices
  • Grow Khan Foundation’s social network by increasing likes and follows
  • Curate relevant content to reach Khan Foundation’s online target audience and potential donor base
  • Listen, respond, ask questions and engage with KF’s audience

Communications and Outreach Coordinator

Position Description

The Communications and Outreach Coordinator will help ensure that we maintain targeted engagement with the community. Interns will create and execute community outreach projects and assist with collecting, creating and disseminating KF-related news, media and press releases. Main projects will include creating and maintaining bi-monthly KF community e-newsletters, phone and email outreach to schools, other community based organizations and Corporate Sponsors as well as coordination of both small and large-scale community outreach events. Other tasks will include creative and impactful promotional mail to schools, organizations and businesses. We anticipate that the position will require 8-10hrs per week. Additional time is optional but encouraged!

Data Management Coordinator

Position Description

The Data Management Coordinator will assist the Program Director with generating reports and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data. The intern's primary task will be to graph/measure the current growth and future projections of the program's success. The intern should be able to convert qualitative data into quantitative data and be comfortable with Excel and Surveymonkey or Qualtrics. Familiarity with Photoshop, Illustrator or Microsoft Publisher is preferred. Main projects will require the intern to work with the Program Director to develop and maintain a Student Success Tracker and Program Proficiency System via evaluative survey data as well as a Donor Information Database. All data will be showcased in grants, on our website and e-newsletters and will be presented to the KF Executive Board. We anticipate that the position will require 8-10hrs per week. Additional time is optional but encouraged!

Workshop Instructor

The College Access Program Instructors will work to ensure that we reach our goal by administering workshops focused on student character, knowledge, and skills relevant to the college admission process. It is the ultimate goal of the Instructor to ensure through guidance and education program participants (students and parents) receive valuable information in order to assist college admission to a 4-year college best suited to them with financial aid and/or scholarship.

The position will require regular attendance throughout the 6 month program. Instructors will be expected to create positive, structured learning environments—ensuring students and parents retain sufficient information and resources. We anticipate the position will require 2-4.5 hours per week. Additional time is optional but encouraged!


Guidance Coordinator

The Guidance Coordinator is responsible for managing the student coordination aspect of the program. With the assistance and support of the Workshop Instructor, the Program Director --the Guidance Coordinator will oversee the development of participating students along with their parents and ensure they maintain attendance, adhere to program guidelines, and make substantial progress in college prep/admission process.

The Guidance Coordinator will work together with the Instructor to ensure that each participant and parent properly receives the right attention and guidance throughout the program. The Guidance Coordinator will document & report status updates (to Program Director) on each student as well as their parent-- detailing participation, submission/completion of required documentation (in timely manner), and tracking of student’s college application and financial/scholarship through provided tools. Additionally, the GC will work closely with the Program Coordinator to create and distribute student/parent evaluations as well as program assessments in order to measure impact of program (through provided tools). We anticipate that the position will require 2-4.5hrs per week.
